liveArgyll Libraries are safe places with warm spaces and friendly, welcoming faces. Wherever you are in Argyll and Bute, you’re welcome to join our library community, online or in person!

We focus on creating warm and welcoming environments. We aim to offer safe physical spaces where everyone can relax, learn, create and become part of our larger library community. We are committed to improving the shared health and wellbeing of our members, visitors and library team. We recognise the significance of health and wellbeing not just within our library community but also among members and colleagues of liveArgyll and across the communities within Argyll and Bute.

Did you know that 6 minutes of reading each day can reduce your stress levels and increase your mental health and wellbeing?

To promote health and wellbeing, a specially curated collection of books is now accessible across all large town libraries within the liveArgyll network. This diverse selection covers a range of themes and is suitable for readers of all ages, including the very young and their families. The collection has been assembled with recommendations from a reading list curated by The Reading Agency, ensuring the reading material’s high quality and relevance. We are invested in promoting health and wellbeing and regularly add relevant titles.

All liveArgyll library members can browse, borrow and reserve books from this collection, making these valuable resources more accessible for our community.

We’ve made finding these books easy by giving them their spot in the library. Our welcoming library teams can assist with any enquiries, including access to our library catalogue.

If you are part of one of our smaller library communities, you can reserve and pick up any health and wellbeing title that catches your eye directly from your local library. You can make these reservations easily online or by popping into the library for a visit.

We also provide virtual support. Our varied collection of health and wellbeing titles can be accessed in our online library. Please click BorrowBox to view the various titles available to browse, borrow and reserve conveniently at any time. Our online library never closes!

We also work with Playlist for Life, a music and dementia charity that provides resources to help those living with memory loss and the families and carers who support them. When you next visit your local library, please ask a member of our team for information.

We welcome feedback from this initiative and, therefore, suggest that you contact our library development team should you have any suggestions, ideas, or anything you think would add to this service. Please email libraryhq@liveargyll.co.uk.
