How do you make exercise a habit?

Exercise is not just a physical activity; it’s a lifestyle choice that can transform your well-being. It improves your physical health, boosts mental clarity, and enhances your overall quality of life but making exercise a habit can be a challenge.

Tips for Making Exercise a Habit
  1. Start Small: Begin with realistic goals and manageable workouts. Start with 15-30 minutes of exercise a few times a week, then gradually increase as your stamina and confidence grow.
  2. Set Clear Goals: Define why you want to exercise. Whether it’s for weight loss, increased strength, or better mental health, having a clear goal can motivate you to stick with your routine.
  3. Find Activities You Enjoy: Exercise doesn’t have to be a chore. Find activities you genuinely like, whether it’s swimming, dancing, hiking, or playing a sport. When you enjoy the process, it’s easier to turn it into a habit.
  4. Be Flexible: Life can be unpredictable, and there may be days when your planned workout isn’t feasible. Instead of giving up, find ways to fit in a shorter session or reschedule it.
  5. Seek Support: Don’t hesitate to seek advice or help from liveArgyll fitness professionals. They can provide guidance and motivation to keep you on track and suggest workout programmes that help you achieve your goals.

Rhys’ Story

I began my fitness journey 1 year ago after I had been struggling with my physical and mental health.

Since starting my journey I have gained more confidence in myself and found a real passion for fitness. My goals were to lose fat and gain muscle and in addition make long-term lifestyle changes. During my journey, I have lost over 2 stone and seen major changes in my physique.

The instructors at liveArgyll’s Lochgilphead facility made such a significant difference to my fitness by offering great classes, advice and their time which pushed me and motivated me on days when I didn’t feel like getting it done.

I now attend the gym 4-5 times a week and enjoy seeing such a difference in myself, as well as enjoying what I do in the gym.
