GIVE

“GIVE” is our School Holiday provision programme. This is a free programme offered to young people in P7 to S4.

The popular programme is fully designed by the young people on completion of a short consultation and consists of volunteering opportunities in their local community, information workshops/training and reward trips.

The volunteering days see the young people work with a range of local organisations, such as Inspiring Innellan and Ardnahien Care home, to help make a difference in their communities, demonstrating the power of ‘youth action’ in return for fun reward trips to celebrate and reward their hard work.

Cowal Youth Action Group

liveArgyll Youth Work Service facilitates weekly meetings with Cowal Youth Action Group. The Action Group represent young people’s views in the area by carrying out weekly meetings which involve regular focus groups and youth consultations on a two-yearly basis. The input from the Action Group ensures the local youth work service is entirely youth led by focussing on local youth views, issues and areas the young people would like to develop.

Girls Group

The group meets every Wednesday evening 5.45 – 6.45pm at The Queen’s Hall and is open to girls and young women P7-S4.

The group creates a safe and inclusive environment to discuss and learn about a range of issues from learning about staying safe online to peer pressure, relationships and healthy eating, sexual health and drug and alcohol education. These issues are identified by the group through discussions with Youth Work staff to ensure that the needs of the group are met. The group regularly receive inputs from Police Scotland, D-exy Counselling service and other health & wellbeing partners.

Support to Schools via Wider Achievement

We also provide support in local schools for pupils to gain extra accreditation through learning activities which seek to engage young people in gaining different types of accreditations such as, Youth Achievement Awards, Dynamic Youth Awards and Saltire.

As well as providing support in schools, we work with Active Schools to provide Wider Achievement opportunities for young people in roles such as Sports Ambassadors, Shinty Ambassadors and volunteer spots coaches and many more.
