Britten – Suite on English Folk Tunes

Mozart – Horn Concerto No. 4

Interval (20 mins)

Vaughan Williams – Five Variants of Dives and Lazarus (for harp and strings)

Beethoven – Symphony No.4

Following a sold-out concert in 2024, the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra returns to the Corran Halls for a programme rooted in folk tradition that crackles with colour and energy. Dedicated to composer Percy Grainger (famous for Country Gardens), Britten’s Suite on English Folk Tunes is playful and full of surprises, while Vaughan Williams draws on an ancient folk melody with tenderness and quiet beauty.

BBC SSO Section Principal Horn Chris Gough is the soloist in Mozart’s sparkling concerto, and Beethoven’s Fourth Symphony brings elegance, wit and unstoppable momentum. Led by Stefano Boccacci, RCS Leverhulme Conducting Fellow, it’s a programme that will sweep you away from first note to last.

Please note that this concert will begin promptly at 7pm and will finish at approximately 9.00pm.

£6 tickets for full-time students, Under 26s and Registered Unemployed (proof of status is required).
