As part of Scotland’s nationwide 2026 Summer of Sport programme, we’re bringing a huge wave of activity, energy and fun to communities right across Argyll and Bute. Thanks to incredible support from the Scottish Government and sportscotland, children, young people and families will have more opportunities than ever to get active, try something new and enjoy an exciting summer packed with sport and community spirit.
Whether you want to build confidence, make new friends, discover a new sport or simply stay active and have fun together, 2026 Summer of Sport is all about breaking down barriers and making activity accessible for all. From fully funded soft play and free pool access to heavily subsidised holiday camps and activities, there is free and low-cost opportunities happening across Argyll and Bute, giving you the chance to make the most of a summer full of movement, excitement and unforgettable experiences.

Looking for the ultimate summer adventure? Our highly popular liveArgyll Summer Camps are back, and this year they are more accessible than ever!
Thanks to the Summer of Sport investment, spaces are heavily subsidised to ensure every child can join in the action.
Led by our fantastic Active Schools and sports coaching teams, these camps offer multi-sport activities, skill-building games, and a brilliant space to make new friends.

Free Swimming for Young People
Dive into summer without spending a penny! We are thrilled to offer free swimming access for young people across a massive network of local pools.
What’s Included?
All liveArgyll-operated pools will host free family swim sessions and free fun pool sessions (featuring inflatables, floats, and music) during the school holidays. Standard pool admission policies apply, and timetables vary by venue, so please check individual pool schedules before heading out.

2026 Summer of Sport Micro-Grant Fund
Are you a local sports club, community group, or charity looking to make a difference this summer? We want to help you get your community moving!
As part of the 2026 Summer of Sport initiative, we are offering Micro-Grants of up to £750 to help fund free or heavily subsidised sporting activities, multi-sport taster sessions, adaptive equipment, or coaching costs. We explicitly prioritise projects that break down financial barriers or target support toward families, young carers, and rural communities who need it most.
Fund at a Glance:
- Maximum Award: Up to £750 per application.
- Who can apply: Sports clubs, local charities, and community voluntary groups operating in Argyll and Bute.
- The Golden Rule: Activities must be completely FREE or significantly low-cost for youth aged 3 to 26.
